Sam has somehow managed to trick Shelby into climbing a tree in Central Park. Shelby, terrified of heights, clings to the trunk while Sam hovering over the ground on the thinnest part of the branch teases her about the way fear can get in the way of truly living.

From the play:

SAM: Shelby. Shelby.

SAM: Can you, for one second, for just one second let go of all the things you imagine just might maybe could go wrong, all the ways you could get hurt or embarrassed or left or lost and just enjoy this one moment, here, this moment, for one second.

SHELBY thinks about it.
